In today’s post, I’d like to talk about how to plan for your personal branding shoot!

Most people think the preparation for a shoot is all about choosing outfits and getting your hair and makeup done. These are very important things to think about, but with personal branding photography I take the planning process one step further. Here’s a few things I recommend thinking about before you start planning:

  1. Determine who it is that you are talking to – who is your ideal client and what type of client are you trying to attract?

  1. What marketing platforms do you use the most? You need a variety of images for those platforms.

  1. Understand and have a clear idea of what you want to use the images for (blog posts, email marketing, etc.). Do you need images with a composition that has negative space so that you can add type?

  1. Determine the styles of photographs that you want (composition, location and the overall feel of the photographs). When I help you plan your branding shoot, I will you create a Pinterest board of 15-30 pins that reflect the style, feel, location type, etc. that you would like your shoot to have. You can add captions to the pins that describe what you like about each image. This helps me understand what kind of style you are truly wanting from this shoot.

  1. Bring along a collection of props to your shoot and have a good idea of where you would like to incorporate certain props and with what outfits. This will save a lot of time during the shoot!
