Using Props in Your Branding Shoot

How to Use Props in Your Branding Shoot

Personal Branding Photographer in Raleigh, North Carolina

Using props for your branding shoot is an awesome way to show who you are, what you do and how you do it! They add unique and personal details to your workspace that help give you custom images no one else has. Think about all of the things you love to share about, even if it’s not business related. Bring props that I can capture, so you can better share about those things with images! Try to incorporate your brand colors into the props that you choose, because it will make your images so much more consistent with your entire brand.

You probably have a lot of potential props around your house that you could use for your branding shoot already! If you need to go out and buy a few items, the Target dollar section is a great place to start and it’s extremely inexpensive.

Office Supplies

Get some cute desk accessories from the Target dollar section to use that make your workspace look fun, but functional!

Flowers & Plants

You can pick up a very affordable bouquet of flowers from a local grocery store to make your photos seem more warm, colorful and cozy! I’ve even purchased a few real-looking artificial plants from Target or Michael’s to use for my own photos.

Stationery

I love including notebooks, notepads, planners, and fun, stationery cards in my styled photos.

Fabric

If you don’t have random fabric lying around, use your bed sheets or a blouse! Photographing on a white bed sheet or light colored top can make your images look very light and airy.

Catch-All Trays

These can add a little something extra to your styled photos. Target and TJ Maxx are great places to find stylish trays!

Candles

These are a great addition and most everyone has at least a few around their home.

Craft Supplies

If crafting is part of your brand or even just a hobby, show it off by including pencils, ribbon, twine, washi tape, paint brushes or a cute pair of scissors.

Coffee Mugs or Cups

What is your favorite drink? Coffee, lemonade, tea? Include a few of your favorite coffee mugs with fun sayings or cute cups you use! These can be incorporated into a lot of your images to make it more casual and comfy.

Devices

Most businesses these days use some sort of device (probably multiple) to get their job done. Bring along your laptop, tablet or phone so I can capture detail shots of you using those devices.

Books & Magazines

What are some of your favorite business or non-business related books? For example, I LOVE Chip & Joanna Gaines’ books, and I also love interior decorating magazines. Bring those books or magazines you love along to your shoot and we can incorporate them into your images! These kinds of props can create connections with your audience who have the same interests you do.
